Korff Named Missouri Corn Merchandising Council Chairman

Posted on 10/5/11

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–Rob Korff, a corn farmer from Norborne, Mo., has been elected chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC). The vote took place during the organization’s August board meeting. Korff took over the reins Oct. 1, succeeding Billy Thiel of Marshall, Mo.

“It is an honor to serve as chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council and to work with the board, staff and all of our strategic partners to promote and advance the usage of corn in Missouri, across the country and around the world,” Korff says. “The responsibility of wisely investing checkoff funds is a role that our board of directors takes seriously in order to leverage and garner the greatest return for the corn growers of Missouri.”

Korff represents corn farmers from District 2 in the north central region of the state. He previously served the state’s growers as MCMC secretary and vice chairman, and Missouri Corn Growers Association vice president. Korff has also represented growers nationally, serving as chairman of the National Corn Growers Association Biotechnology Working Group in 2009.

“I look forward to the year ahead to see what new challenges arise and to help facilitate and add to the many successes that my predecessors have achieved,” noted Korff.

The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer producer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is dedicated to market development, research and education. The Missouri Corn Growers Association is a grassroots organization of more than 2,000 members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, continued market development and strong involvement in the political process.
