Missouri Farmers Giving Away Free Groceries For A Year


mofarmersfeedus.jpg A new campaign offers Missouri consumers the chance to learn more about their food and register for the opportunity to win free groceries for a year.  Now through April 11, 2010, Missourians can visit www.FarmersFeedUS.org, sign up for a chance to win a year's worth of groceries* and meet five featured farmers along the way. 
 
Throughout the 90-day campaign, consumers can enter daily by visiting each of the five farmers - meaning any Missouri resident can sign up five times a day.  Interested individuals can also interact with the featured farmers and other Missouri producers through social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook

2010 Missouri Corn Scholarship Deadline Quickly Approaching

Applications for the 2010 Missouri Corn Scholarships are now available.  Ten $750 scholarships will be awarded by the Missouri Corn Growers Association and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council to deserving high school seniors and college juniors.  Interested students can download an application or call (800) 827-4181.  Scholarship requirements can be found under the education tab

MISSOURI CORN GROWERS ASSOCIATION
The Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA), established in 1978, is a grassroots organization of farmer-members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production by developing and expanding corn markets, collecting and distributing information, building coalitions with organizations and industries, and participating in the governmental process.


MISSOURI CORN MERCHANDISING COUNCIL
The Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) was formed after a referendum was passed to establish a one-half cent per bushel corn checkoff. MCMC is an organization of corn growers dedicated to the profitability of corn production by investing checkoff dollars in the development and expansion of corn market; facilitating communication with growers and customers; and researching new corn utilization opportunities.
 

 
Close, But Not Close Enough - 02.05.10

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)--The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision regarding the expanded Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS2) regulations was met with mixed emotions from the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA).  On Wednesday, the EPA recognized the environmental benefits of corn-based ethanol, yet MCGA leaders were frustrated by the agency’s provisions to incorporate international indirect land use changes (ILUC) in their calculations.

Procrastinators Beware: Missouri Corn Scholarship Deadline Approaching - 02.05.10

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)--Agriculture students throughout Missouri have until Feb. 12 to submit their applications for 2010 Missouri Corn Scholarships.  High schoola nd college students interested in a career in agronomy or other agriculture-related field can apply for one of ten $750 scholarships sponsored by the Missouri Corn Growers Association and the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council.

Corn Growers Applaud Missouri Leadership - 02.02.10

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)--Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) farmer-leaders and CEO Gary Marshall joined Reps. Ike Skelton (D-04) and Jo Ann Emerson (R-08) this morning to support proposed legislation to strengthen America's renewable fuels industry and strip the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA of their power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act.
