Enhancement Program The Value Enhancement Program of MCGA/MCMC has 4 primary goals: 1. Facilitate development of producer groups to enhance
value. FEATURE: QUALITY TRAIT RESEARCH TRIAL RESULTS FEATURE: 2007 STATEWIDE ETHANOL STUDY FEATURE: MAKING IDENTITY PRESERVATION PAY Gary Clark serves as Director of Market Development for MCGA/MCMC. Blueprint for Missouri Farmer-Owned Ethanol Industry On Thursday, June 7, 2001, the Missouri Corn Growers Association and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council announced the launch of a statewide feasibility study to provide a "blueprint" for the future growth of Missouris farmer-owned ethanol industry. Two independent, out-of-state firms SJH and Company of Boston, Massachusetts and CoBank Business Advisory Services of Denver, Colorado have been hired to complete a study of the feasibility of additional ethanol plants in Missouri. MCGA and MCMC have also been awarded separate grants from the Missouri Department of Agricultures Missouri Agriculture and Small Business Development Authority, and the United States Department of Agricultures Rural Development Division to assist in funding the study A companion study will also develop a blueprint for additional farmer-owned, corn processing opportunities in Missouri. The results of the companion study are expected in late fall or early winter, and will give producer groups a "menu of options" from which to choose ideas for follow-up feasibility studies for their specific county or region. Click here for a news release on the study. Partnership Pays MCGA and MCMC have worked hard through the years to develop value enhancement opportunities for Missouri farmers. By creating new markets for corn, MCGA and MCMC have been able to assist farmers' participation in programs where they can be on both the input and output side. The best illustration is Missouri's four farmer-owned ethanol plants. Golden Triangle Energy near Craig, Northeast Missouri Grain Processors in Macon, Mid-Missouri Energy in Malta Bend, MO and Missouri Ethanol, LLC in Laddonia are all examples of efforts from MCGA, MCMC and the farmers in rural Missouri coming together for value-added opportunities.
