LEGISLATION FOR STATEWIDE ETHANOL FUEL STANDARD TO BE UNVEILED

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)—Members of the Missouri Corn Growers Association, along with Representatives Bob Behnen, R-Kirksville, Peter Myers, R-Sikeston and Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, will launch legislation requiring a statewide 10-percent ethanol fuel standard for Missouri.

WHY:
House Bill 1270, also known as the Missouri Renewable Fuel Standard (MoRFS), requires all gasoline sold in the state to contain 10-percent ethanol. This standard will reduce dependence on foreign oil, create a cleaner environment and revitalize economic growth in rural communities. The MoRFS reinforces Governor Matt Blunt's call for expanded domestic fuel supplies and is expected to strengthen the state's growing ethanol industry. Missouri currently has three farmer-owned ethanol plants in production, with a fourth under construction.

WHAT:
Press conference on HB 1270, which establishes a requirement for 10-percent ethanol blended fuel for the State of Missouri.

WHEN:
Tuesday, January 24
11:00 a.m.

WHERE:
Missouri State Capitol
House Hearing Room #4
Jefferson City, Mo.

WHO:
Representative Bob Behnen, R-Kirksville,
Representative Peter Myers, R-Sikeston,
Representative Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown,
