TEAM ETHANOL RACING INTO MISSOURI STATE FAIR

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) -- Missouri corn growers are excited to announce that the Team Ethanol IndyCar will be making a pit stop at the 2006 Missouri State Fair in Sedalia on Aug. 12-13. The performance vehicle, sponsored by Broin Companies, Fagen Inc. and ICM, will be on display at the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council/Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCMC/MCGA) booth in the Agriculture Building to help raise awareness of ethanol in Missouri and across the nation.

“There is no better way to demonstrate ethanol’s performance power to Missouri consumers than by showcasing the #17 Team Ethanol IndyCar during the Missouri State Fair,” said Tom Slunecka, executive director of the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC). “As Missouri continues to develop their alternative fuels strategy, the ethanol industry will continue to promote ethanol as an important part of the solution.”

The driver of the Team Ethanol IndyCar is Jeff Simons, who has a record of six victories and 29 top-five finishes over three years in the Indy Racing League (IRL) feeder series. Simons started racing at the age of five, working his way up the ranks and breaking into Indy Pro Series competition before joining Team Ethanol earlier this year.

“We are thrilled to have such a popular attraction featured at our booth during the Missouri State Fair,” says Becky Grisham, director of communications for MCMC/MCGA. “EPIC has been out front in helping raise awareness of ethanol and we are proud to have them as our partner for progress.”

The ethanol movement has been on a roll in the IRL this year with special Ethanol Days at the Indy 500 as well as many industry activities at various IndyCar Series races and special events around the country. In 2007, Indy cars will be powered by 100 percent ethanol, helping showcase the fuel’s high-powered performance capabilities. EPIC’s Team Ethanol IndyCar has been clocked at 220 mph.

In addition to educational materials and balloons, MCMC/MCGA’s booth at the 2006 Missouri State Fair will also feature the new 2007 “Live Green Go Yellow” Flexible Fuel Tahoe donated by General Motors and the Governors’ Ethanol Coalition.
