MISSOURI CORN ORGANIZATIONS ANNOUNCE NEW LEADERSHIP (JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) -- With harvest season in full swing, a new crop of leaders is taking over the reigns of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) and the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA). District elections for MCMC were held in July and representatives took seats on the board Oct. 1 to oversee corn check-off investments. Re-elected to serve another 3-year term were Terry Hilgedick of Hartsburg, Mo., representing District 5 (central region) and Jim Stuever, a farmer from Dexter, Mo., representing District 7 (southeast region). Newly elected to the board was Charles Krueger from Kahoka, Mo. Krueger represents growers from District 3 (northeast region) and replaces Brent Rockhold, Arbela, Mo., who has served the maximum number of terms. The election of the MCMC officer team took place during the Council's August board meeting. The 2006-2007 MCMC officers are: Chairwoman - Jayne Glosemeyer, Marthasville, Mo., District 6 (east-central region), The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 13 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer producer board is dedicated to enhancing the profitability of corn production by investing check-off dollars in development and expansion of corn markets, utilizing the latest industry research, facilitating communication with farmers and customers and partnering with major agricultural organizations on state, national and international market development efforts. MCMC's sister organization, MCGA, is a grassroots organization of nearly 1,800 farmer-members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, market development, education, outreach and involvement in the political process. Also elected in August, the 2006-2007 MCGA officers are: President - Mike Geske, Matthews, Mo., District 7 (southeast region),"This year is one for the record books," says newly-elected MCGA President Mike Geske. "With the passage of the Missouri Renewable Fuel Standard and continued growth in the ethanol industry, there is no doubt that we are moving in the right direction. I especially want to thank Terry Hilgedick, our retiring president, for his leadership and dedication to Missouri's corn farmers. He spent countless hours away from the farm in order to make sure our voice was being heard in the halls of the State Capitol. I look forward to continuing the momentum he created in order to tackle the issues that are important to our growers." Several Missouri corn growers have also been appointed to serve on National Corn Growers Association Action Teams and Committees. Mike Geske was appointed to serve on the Public Policy Action Team, while Rob Korff was appointed to the Biotechnology Working Group and Keith Witt will serve on the Nominating Committee. Reappointments include Billy Thiel of Marshall, Mo., to the Ethanol Committee and Paul Gross to the Production & Stewardship Action Team.
